Welcome to Nigerian Politics. In the latest report, President Bola Tinubu has filed a counter-appeal at the Supreme Court, levelling serious accusations against his political rival, Atiku Abubakar.

In the suit, President Tinubu alleged that Atiku submitted fake certificates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), casting doubts on the authenticity of the former vice president’s academic qualifications.

According to the president’s legal team, Atiku is said to have used the name “Atiku Kojoli” on his primary school certificate and the name “Siddiq Abubakar” on his 1965 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) certificate.

The move is in response to Atiku’s earlier suit at the Supreme Court. In this suit, he accused the president of presenting a forged certificate to INEC before the 2023 elections.

Many people are now wondering whether Atiku’s tactic has finally backfired, with the possibility of paying millions of naira for defamation of character back to the parties he falsely accused of forgery.
