The News as It Trends
What began as a whirlwind romance between Nigerian businessman Simon Guobadia and reality star Porsha Williams has spiraled into a bitter legal and emotional fallout.
After agreeing to a prenuptial agreement before their 2022 wedding, Guobadia now claims he was “targeted” and “duped,” comparing the experience to a “419-style” scam.
He alleges that Porsha pursued him during a vulnerable period – just after his divorce from another Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member – and manipulated him into marriage for financial gain.
Despite willingly signing the prenup, Guobadia now argues that she misrepresented her intentions, particularly by returning to RHOA after claiming she was done with reality TV.
Legal analysts say that challenging a prenup post-marriage is extremely difficult.
Without clear evidence of fraud, coercion, or nondisclosure, courts are unlikely to overturn it.
So far, judges have ruled in favor of Porsha, awarding her $40,000 per month in alimony, a stake in their $7 million home, and other benefits.
Now living outside the U.S. following deportation for immigration violations, Guobadia faces new challenges in enforcing – or evading – the court’s decisions.
Deportation doesn’t nullify a prenup, especially one executed under U.S. law (reportedly Georgia).
If he refuses to comply, Porsha can seek international enforcement, freeze U.S.-based assets, or pursue further legal action.
Experts interviewed for this report warn that if Guobadia continues making damaging public claims – especially ones that can’t be substantiated – he could open himself to a defamation lawsuit.
In the U.S., defamation is typically a civil matter, while in Nigeria, it can carry criminal consequences if proven to be malicious and intentional, especially when disseminated online.
Bottom line: the law doesn’t recognize hurt feelings or post-breakup bitterness – it follows the documents and the damage.
And in this case, both may linger for a while.
