The news as it trends.

Recently, President Trump unveiled a new plan called the “Gold Card” proposal, which has now sparked significant controversy and legal debates online.

The plan involves offering a $5 million visa to wealthy foreigners, providing a pathway to U.S. citizenship.

According to Trump, the idea is to attract wealthy individuals who can invest in the U.S. economy, create jobs, and contribute to reducing the national deficit.

This proposal also includes the possibility of Russian oligarchs participating.

However, the proposal has faced criticism and legal questions.

Critics argue that the executive branch does not have the authority to create such a program without Congressional approval.

Additionally, there are concerns about the potential for fraud and misuse of the program, similar to issues seen with the existing EB-5 visa program.

Critics have also raised concerns about the potential for money laundering and the involvement of wealthy individuals, including Russian oligarchs, flowing dark money into the U.S. system in exchange for citizenship.

The previous EB-5 visa program required foreign investors to create or preserve at least ten permanent full-time jobs for qualified U.S. workers, ensuring that their investments contributed to the U.S. economy.

In contrast, the Trump “Gold Card” proposal allows wealthy individuals to purchase citizenship for $5 million without the same job creation requirements.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has attempted to address these concerns by assuring that applicants will be vetted and that the program will bring entrepreneurial spirit and growth to America.

However, the debate continues, with many questioning the legality and ethical implications of the proposal.

It is worth noting that the President of the United States cannot unilaterally implement the “Gold Card” proposal without Congressional approval.

The U.S. Constitution grants Congress the authority to establish immigration laws and policies.

Any significant changes to the immigration system, such as creating a new visa program, would require legislation passed by both the House of Representatives and the Senate, and then signed into law by the President.

Some critics online and experts on immigration laws alike have considered Trump’s new money gold visa push in exchange for U.S. citizenship as dead on arrival without Congressional approval.

Some also criticize the proposal as an attempt to run the U.S. like a full-blown business with no consideration for what actually makes the country what it is—a nation built on the backs of immigrants, people of color, the poor, and not just the wealthy.

Some historians have also criticized the proposal, noting that Trump’s own family has immigrant roots and came to America with relatively modest means.

Reports show that Donald Trump’s own grandfather, Friedrich Trump, emigrated from Germany to the United States in 1885 at the age of 16.

He arrived with little money and initially worked as a barber before venturing into various businesses, including restaurants and hotels.

Friedrich’s son, Fred Trump, was born in the Bronx and eventually became a successful real estate developer, but he started with humble beginnings.

Donald Trump’s mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, emigrated from Scotland in 1930 with just $50 in her pocket. She worked as a domestic house help before marrying Fred Trump.

Therefore, on the Gold Visa Card proposal, historians concluded that Trump’s own family history reflects the immigrant experience of coming to America with limited resources, in a country that allowed them to thrive, rather than simply buying their way in.

Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops and the debate around the “Gold Card” proposal continues.
