In a heated escalation of their ongoing feud, President Donald Trump lashed out at Elon Musk on his social media platform, Truth Social, accusing the tech billionaire of deliberately interfering with his proposed $4.5 trillion “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
Trump expressed his frustration in a now-viral post, writing:
“Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far. And without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. No more rocket launches, satellites, or car production—and our country would save a fortune.”
This statement followed Musk’s sharp criticism of the bill, which he called “utterly insane,” warning it would bankrupt the U.S. economy and destroy clean energy innovation.
In response, Trump has reportedly considered revoking federal contracts tied to Musk’s companies, including SpaceX and Tesla, and ordering an investigation through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Critics have interpreted Trump’s remark about Musk “heading back to South Africa” as a veiled deportation threat, despite Musk being a naturalized U.S. citizen.
The feud is currently trending as it blends personal vendetta, policy retaliation, and political spectacle – with real implications for technology, energy, and the 2026 elections.
