Two individuals were found dead in the landing gear compartment of a JetBlue flight that landed at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida on Monday evening.
The discovery was made by maintenance personnel during a routine post-flight inspection around 11:30 p.m., according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
The identities and genders of the deceased individuals have not been publicly disclosed.
The circumstances surrounding how they accessed the aircraft are currently under investigation by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and medical examiners.
The aircraft had arrived from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, operating as flight 1801.
Airport officials have stated that there are no impacts to operations due to the incident.
JetBlue has expressed its commitment to cooperating with authorities to understand how this occurred.
