Babangida received immense support from influential personalities and other notable Nigerians during this event, which not only marked a significant moment in his life but also demonstrated the immense support he receives.
According to reports, Aliko Dangote pledged a remarkable ₦8 billion, which he further committed to over a four-year period at ₦2 billion annually.
Abdulsamad Rabiu came in second, contributing ₦5 billion.
It is also worth noting that General Theophilus Danjuma provided Babangida with substantial backing by donating ₦3 billion.
Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President of Nigeria, also contributed ₦50 million, followed by Jibrin Barau, the Deputy Senate President, contributing ₦20 million.
Arthur Eze, a billionaire businessman, donated an additional ₦500 million, according to reports.
Folorunsho Alakija, who was also in attendance, is said to have contributed, though she did not specify the amount, according to eyewitness accounts.
The launch of “A Journey in Service” for the former President of Nigeria turned into a remarkable display of generosity and support, reflecting the influence the former president of Nigeria wielded among politicians, Nigerian society elites and other influential figures in Nigeria.
From 1985 to 1993, Ibrahim Babangida served as the 8th Head of State of Nigeria and was often referred to as IBB.
Babangida was born on August 17, 1941, which makes him 83 years old today.
His autobiography according to reports, is now on sale in bookstores, priced at ₦40,000 for the paperback and ₦50,000 for the hardback.
