The news as it trends.

Andrew and Tristan Tate have left Romania for the United States after being charged with human trafficking and rape.

The charges include human trafficking, sexual intercourse with a minor, and forming an organized criminal group to exploit women.

They were arrested near Bucharest in late 2022 along with two Romanian women.

Romanian prosecutors lifted the travel ban on the Tate brothers, allowing them to leave the country.

The decision was made at the discretion of prosecutors, and the brothers were warned that violating their obligations could result in stricter measures.

The Tate brothers, who are dual U.S.-British citizens, departed Romania on a private plane on February 27, 2025, arriving in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Despite their departure, they are still required to appear before judicial authorities whenever summoned in Romania.

The charges against them remain, and they are expected to return for their next court appearance on March 24, 2025.

The fact that the two brothers are popular, the situation has raised concerns about the influence of political connections and the potential impact on the legal proceedings.

Critics argue that lifting the travel ban could undermine the rule of law and the integrity of the judicial process.

Additionally, according to legal experts, while the primary legal proceedings are in Romania, the Tates could potentially face U.S. law under extraterritorial jurisdiction if their activities had any connection to the U.S.
