Welcome to the spectacular New York Fashion Week (NYFW).

If you missed it. On September 6, 2024, the illustrious popular singer Rihanna aka Badgalriri made a remarkable entrance in a stunning sheer lace ensemble that beautifully accentuated her figure.

Rihanna captivated the audience at the Alaïa show, held at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, marking the highly anticipated return of the French fashion house to New York City. See photos below.

Earlier that evening, Riri surprised guests at the Daily Front Row’s Fashion Media Awards by presenting an award to her stylist and close friend, Jahleel Weaver, in recognition of his contributions.

For the special occasion, Badgalriri donned an exquisite blush corset dress embellished with crystals.

The event was undoubtedly filled with glamour and excitement.

For those unfamiliar, Jahleel Weaver, to whom Badgalriri presented the award, is a 37-year-old American fashion designer and stylist who served as the deputy creative director for Rihanna’s fashion label, Fenty, from 2019 to 2021.

The event itself showcases the works of the Alaïa fashion & Foundation based in Paris.

The Alaïa fashion brand is named in honor of Azzedine Alaïa, a celebrated fashion designer from Tunisia, recognized for his significant influence and esteemed reputation within the fashion industry.

For those who may not know, Azzedine Alaïa was born in Tunis on February 26, 1935, and gained prominence as a leading figure in fashion design.

According to reports, his parents were wheat farmers, but it was his glamorous twin sister, Hafida, who inspired his interest in fashion design.

Alaia’s creative talents were further cultivated by a family friend, Mrs. Pineau, who introduced him to Vogue magazine.

The New York Times recognized Alaïa as one of the most influential and steadfast designers of the 20th and 21st centuries, and he passed away in Paris at the age of 82 on November 18, 2017.

His contributions to the fashion industry during his lifetime remain significant.

As noted by the Financial Times, Azzedine Alaïa was indeed “a totally important designer,” a sentiment echoed by Cher Horowitz in “Clueless.” Before establishing his own brand in 1981, he gained essential experience working with esteemed designers such as Christian Dior, Guy Laroche, and Thierry Mugler.

Even those who may not be familiar with the Alaïa brand are likely to recognize the iconic stretch-knit bodysuits that gained popularity in the 1980s, famously worn by supermodels, celebrities, and available in various retail outlets.

More photos can be seen below, highlighting numerous other supermodels and celebrities present on September 6, 2024, at the New York Fashion show including Naomi Campbell and Kendall Jenner, among others.
