In a touching moment in 2019, Izaak Theo Adu publicly expressed his gratitude to Sade for her unwavering support during his transition, emphasizing the significance of her encouragement in navigating the complexities of his journey.
In his Instagram update, during the time, Izaak stated: “It has been a long and arduous journey, but we have succeeded! We are returning home.
“I am immensely grateful for your unwavering presence over the past six months, Mumma.
Thank you for standing by me as I have worked to become the man I am today. “Your encouragement during difficult moments and the love you provide are invaluable.
You possess the purest heart. I love you dearly. Queen of queens ♥️ #mumma #lioness #queen #iloveyou.”
In one of the posts, he acknowledged that the process of transition has been “challenging, exhausting, painful, emotionally draining, physically demanding, and uncomfortable,” noting that it has made it difficult for him to sleep like a “normal person.”
“This journey is challenging, exhausting, painful, emotionally draining, physically demanding, and uncomfortable (I find it hard to sleep like a normal person right now, haha). I frequently question,
“Why must I endure this to become my true self?”
However, ultimately, this is the path that has been set before me, and I am committed to following it to its conclusion. “My father often advises,
“Keep your eyes on the horizon,” and that is precisely what I strive to do.
Amidst all this discomfort, I find solace in knowing that it is not permanent, and I have my entire life ahead of me.
I am incredibly excited about what lies ahead, though I must occasionally remind myself to practice patience, as I believe we all do.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my mother, father, family, and friends for their unwavering support; it will always be cherished,” he expressed on Instagram.
In 2019, a report indicated that Izaak Theo Adu, who was originally named Mickailia ‘Ila’ Adu, spent several months undergoing recovery after undergoing phalloplasty surgery, a reconstructive procedure frequently pursued by transgender and non-binary individuals.
Sade Adu is reported to have one biological child, Izaak, whose heritage is Jamaican-Nigerian, in addition to a stepson from her relationship with Ian Watts, a former Royal Marine.
