Rent Hike in Lagos: from N750K to N1.4 million. Ajah Tenant Shares Landlord’s Letter.

A young woman, known online as ‘BigAra,’ has posted a photo of the letter her landlord sent to tenants regarding a rent increase.

She explained that the landlord’s lawyer distributed the letter to all tenants, informing them of the new rent.

According to the letter, the landlord has raised the rent from N750K to N1.4 million, almost double the original amount.

The young woman resides in a one-bedroom apartment in Ajah, Lagos.

As indicated in the notice below, part of the letter states:

“Please note that the rent of the apartment you occupy has been increased to the sum of N1,200,000.00 and service charge N200,000.00 per annum from your next rent renewal in December 2025.”

The landlord emphasized that if you are “Unable to renew the tenancy at the current rate/rent, please vacate the property.”
