Stop disrespecting the dead. A Ghanaian pastor laments in outrage. Kofi Oduro, a Ghanaian prophet and founder of the Alabaster International Ministry, has voiced his concerns regarding the troubling trend of improper corpse handling during funerals in Ghana.

He noted the increasing popularity of custom-designed coffins and highlighted how social media has revealed instances where the deceased are posed in unconventional ways during wake services.

In some situations, the bodies are placed in caskets that symbolize their professions while alive. A recent viral video depicted a group of individuals carrying a deceased person on their shoulders in a public procession.

Prophet Oduro condemned this behavior as the height of what he describes as foolishness at funerals in Ghana. In a recent sermon, he expressed his dismay, stating, “Foolishness has overtaken Ghana. Nowadays, when someone dies, we show a lack of respect for the deceased.

We might place the body in the kitchen and rationalize it by saying she was a cook or a food vendor. Nonsense!

Are there no wise elders in the family? W implies that wisdom is not inherent in every elder if they permit such occurrences.

He further illustrated his point by mentioning instances where the corpse is removed from the coffin and paraded through the streets.

He criticized the careless manner in which caskets are sometimes thrown into graves, leading to their destruction.

“What, then, is the purpose of placing the person in a coffin in the first place?” he questioned.

He stressed that such practices are not common in more developed countries, where it is often customary not to display the body at all.

The prophet encouraged today’s generations of Ghanaians to respect the dead.
