The National Youth Service Corps of Nigeria (NYSC) has officially revoked the discharge certificates of 99 graduates from the University of Calabar.

This action was taken in response to instances of fraudulent mobilization for national service that occurred during the 2021, 2022, and 2023 service years.

In a statement released by Eddy Megwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations, the NYSC reiterated its dedication to ensuring that only eligible individuals are awarded NYSC certificates.

The statement highlighted that the individuals listed, along with two others who were exempted, were improperly mobilized by the University of Calabar for national service during the specified years.

The NYSC management reaffirmed its commitment to preventing the recognition of unqualified individuals, particularly those who may have graduated from unaccredited institutions, and emphasized that only those who meet the necessary qualifications will receive NYSC Certificates of National Service.

Consequently, the certificates of the individuals mentioned have been rendered invalid immediately.

The NYSC also urged the public, including employers, government agencies, and other stakeholders, to take note of this announcement for necessary actions.

In addition, it advises the public to verify the authenticity of any Certificates of National Service, Exemption, or Exclusion Letters presented for various purposes by contacting the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja.
