Less than two years into Bola Tinubu’s four-year term as president of Nigeria, a new campaign for the 2027 elections has surfaced, featuring a slogan that may catch many off guard.
The campaign poster, which is currently circulating on social media, presents Bukola Saraki as the presidential candidate, with Peter Obi as his running mate.
Social media speculation indicates that the poster was created by “supporters” of the All Progressives Congress (APC)”.
The poster reads: “Let’s restore our country back, come 2027.”
Bukola Saraki, a former Senate President, is a key figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Peter Obi, who moved from the PDP to the Labour Party (LP) prior to the 2023 elections, is also included.
At this stage, neither Saraki nor Obi has formally declared their intention to run in the 2027 presidential election, and the authenticity of the campaign poster remains unclear.
Under Nigerian law, a sitting president is allowed to serve a four-year term. Bola Tinubu was elected last year and, after leaving office in 2007, played a crucial role in founding the All Progressives Congress party. (APC).
He took office as Nigeria’s president in May 2023.
