The news as it trends.
Melanie Brown — better known to the world as Mel B or Scary Spice — is officially a married woman again.
The 50-year-old pop icon and television personality tied the knot with her longtime partner, 37-year-old hairstylist Rory McPhee, in a stunning ceremony at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London earlier today, July 5, 2025.
The wedding, filled with celebrity guests and Spice Girls nostalgia, has quickly become one of the most talked-about events of the summer.
To some of our readers abroad who may not know her, Mel B rose to fame in the 1990s as one-fifth of the Spice Girls, the best-selling girl group of all time with over 100 million records sold worldwide.
With her bold voice, wild fashion sense, and no-nonsense attitude, she earned the nickname Scary Spice.
Mel B was born in Leeds, England, into a mixed-race household — the daughter of a white English mother, Andrea, and a Black father, Martin, from the Caribbean island of Nevis.
She has often spoken about the challenges and richness of growing up between two cultures and how it fueled her drive to be unapologetically herself.
Her refusal to straighten her hair for the iconic “Wannabe” music video became a symbolic act of pride and representation, particularly for mixed-race British girls who rarely saw themselves reflected in pop culture at the time.
Alongside Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), and Melanie C (Sporty Spice), Mel B helped create a global phenomenon rooted in girl power and fearless femininity.
While Victoria Beckham married football superstar David Beckham and launched a global fashion brand, Mel B took a different route—starring on major talent shows like America’s Got Talent and The X Factor UK, writing a bestselling memoir, and becoming a powerful advocate for domestic violence survivors.
Her advocacy earned her an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 2022.
Her new husband, Rory McPhee, is more than a celebrity hairstylist — he’s been a trusted friend for over two decades.
Their romance began in 2018, following Mel’s difficult second marriage.
She credits Rory with helping her heal, find peace, and rediscover trust in love.
Their engagement in 2022 was private and sentimental, leading to a wedding worthy of royalty.
Mel wore two designer gowns: one by Josephine Scott for the cathedral ceremony, and another by Justin Alexander for the evening celebration.
Her daughters — Phoenix, Angel, and Madison — served as bridesmaids.
Fellow Spice Girl Emma Bunton attended, adding even more nostalgia to the big day.
Mel B’s wedding isn’t just a celebrity headline — it’s a testament to resilience, sisterhood, and new beginnings.
From pop superstardom to personal healing, and now a joyful new chapter, she reminds the world why she was—and still is — a force to be reckoned with.
