As it trends.
Rosmery Alvarado arrived at her spousal green card interview at a USCIS field office in Kansas City, expecting to take a routine step toward permanent residency.
Instead, she left in handcuffs, while her U.S. citizen husband, Nixon Moran, looked on in shock.
Alvarado had received a direct summons by mail, bypassing the typical legal notifications sent to immigration lawyers.
Her family later suspected it was a setup for detention.
Despite concerns, she attended the interview, believing it was part of her legal process.
However, after Moran was asked to step out, ICE officers entered the room and arrested Alvarado, citing a previous deportation order from 2002.
Her family was blindsided, given no prior warning of her arrest.
Now detained at an ICE facility, she faces imminent deportation to Guatemala, raising serious concerns about the fairness of immigration enforcement tactics.
