Authorities in northern Mexico have uncovered a chilling scene inside a private crematorium in Ciudad Juarez – 381 embalmed bodies stacked haphazardly across multiple rooms.

The remains, some left for up to two years, were never cremated as promised.

Instead, grieving families were reportedly given ‘other material’ in place of ashes, according to reports

Officials blame the discovery on gross negligence and deception by the facility’s operators, one of whom has surrendered to authorities. 

The case has sparked national outrage and renewed scrutiny of Mexico’s overwhelmed forensic system, already strained by violence, underfunding, and thousands of unresolved disappearances.

Investigations are ongoing to determine whether any of the bodies are linked to criminal activity.
