The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended Abdulrashibu Ya’u, a 40-year-old tea vendor from Sararai village in Dutse Local Government Area, in connection with the alleged murder of 20-year-old Hassan Garba.
Ya’u is accused of fatally assaulting Garba after suspecting him of stealing various items, including bread and petrol.
Following the incident, police quickly responded, arresting Ya’u and transporting the victim to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival.
According to DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ya’u confessed to the crime during interrogation, stating that his anger over Garba’s repeated thefts led him to tie the victim and beat him with a stick.
Neighbors reported hearing Garba’s cries for help but were unable to assist before the police intervened.
