He Has Had Enough: Mayweather Files $100 Million Lawsuit Against Reporter Over Excessive Late-Night Phone Calls and Ignoring Proof.
He is regarded as one of the greatest of all time, but when it comes to his sleep and peace of mind, Mayweather doesn’t take no for an answer—especially when late-night calls become too excessive.
As reported by Sports Illustrated, Floyd Mayweather has filed a $100 million defamation lawsuit against Business Insider and journalist Daniel Geiger over a report questioning his real estate deal.
The controversy began when Mayweather announced he had acquired a 62-building Manhattan real estate portfolio.
However, Geiger’s report claimed there was no evidence that the sale actually happened.
Mayweather alleges the article was false, defamatory, and racially biased, attacking his reputation and business credibility.
The lawsuit accuses Geiger of harassment, including making hundreds of phone calls to Mayweather’s associates—many of them late at night—and ignoring documentary proof of his ownership.
Mayweather is now demanding $100 million in damages, a formal retraction, and injunctive relief.
The lawsuit has been filed in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York.
