The Kwara State Police Command has commenced an inquiry into the unfortunate demise of a 21-year-old student from the Kwara State College of Health Technology, identified as Awesu Mojisola.

A statement from the police spokesperson, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, indicated that the investigation was triggered by a report received on August 12, 2024, from a local resident named Olorunoje.

He reported to the authorities that while returning home from the mosque on August 11, he was alerted by a group of laborers who had discovered the body of an unidentified female at a refuse site in the Aleniboro area of Ilorin.

Upon the police’s arrival at the scene, detectives conducted a meticulous examination and found bloodstains near the left ear of the deceased, which facilitated the identification of the victim as Miss Awesu Mojisola.

In a related development, on August 13, 2024, a missing person report was lodged by Miss Blessing O, a resident of the Gbomi area in Offa, Kwara State in the same city.

She reported that her roommate, Miss Awesu Mojisola, the same individual whose body was discovered, had not been seen since August 9, 2024.

The circumstances surrounding her disappearance began when Miss Mojisola received a phone call from her friend, Miss Timileyin, who informed her about a student event organized by Summit University and Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin.

Miss Timileyin introduced Mojisola to Mr. Adebayo Happiness, a student from Summit University, who allegedly invited her to a night party under the pretense of offering her Fifteen Thousand Naira to pose as his girlfriend.

Upon her arrival in Ilorin, Miss Mojisola expressed her unease regarding the hotel accommodations arranged by Mr. Adebayo.

Miss Mojisola expressed to her roommate her discomfort regarding the hotel accommodations arranged by Adebayo Happiness, mentioning that no party was taking place at the specified venue.

Shortly thereafter, her phone became unresponsive, and all attempts by her roommate, Miss Blessing, to contact her were unsuccessful.

In response to these alarming circumstances, the Kwara State Police Command has apprehended several individuals linked to the case.

Ongoing investigations have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough inquiry.

The spokesperson, Ejire-Adeyemi, further stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, has assured the public that all necessary measures are being implemented to uncover the facts surrounding this incident and to ensure that those accountable are brought to justice.
