The news as it trends.
It all happened so fast, and people could not believe how a father-son duo failed to control their anger, instead choosing to take matters into their own hands, as reported by authorities.
David and Edward King, a father and son from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, have lost their appeal against their murder convictions on May 8, 2025.
The pair were sentenced to life in prison for the 2021 killing of Neil Charles, whom they attacked after spotting him trying to open car doors near their home.
Neil Charles, 47, had a history of burglary and theft and was seen attempting to access vehicles, including one belonging to the Kings.
Instead of calling the police, David and Edward chose to hunt him down.
Their attack was brutal—Edward slashed Charles’s knee with a Samurai sword, while David stabbed him in the chest with a dagger.
Both men received life sentences—David for 21 years, Edward for 19 years.
During their appeal, they argued that weapons found in their home and violent text messages should not have been used against them, calling it bad character evidence.
However, the judges disagreed, ruling that their convictions were fair and legally sound.
Their trial was held at Ipswich Crown Court in Suffolk.
David King, 56, and Edward King, 20, will both be eligible for parole after serving their minimum sentences—David after 21 years and Edward after 19, as court documents show.
