The news as it trends.

A 12-year-old girl named Mia Shay St. Hilaire sadly passed away after consuming a milkshake prepared in a blender that had not been properly cleaned at the Pop Inn Cafe in London.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows Baris Yucel, 47, making the drink in a container that was left dirty from previous use.

Experts suggest that this cross-contamination was the cause of Mia’s fatal allergic reaction.

Mia suffered from a severe allergy to tree nuts, and the milkshake contained remnants of hazelnuts and almonds from an earlier beverage made in the same blender.

Baris Yucel, the cafe operator, admitted guilt to six violations of the Food Safety Act, resulting in a fine of £18,000 (around $22,000) and a sentence of 100 hours of community service.

Mia Shay St. Hilaire’s death was attributed to a severe allergic reaction to tree nuts, specifically due to the presence of hazelnuts and almonds in the milkshake, rather than the milk itself.

In light of this heartbreaking incident, Mia’s family and friends have created an Instagram page to share her story and to promote awareness about the critical importance of food safety and the necessary precautions for individuals with severe allergies.
