The news as it trends. Unbelievable to watch, scary, and disturbing.

A grieving family in North Philadelphia is demanding an apology after a burial ceremony went horribly wrong.

The incident involved a dead body and pallbearers being sent into the grave.

The incident occurred at Greenmount Cemetery, where pallbearers carrying the casket of Benjamin Aviles to his final resting place experienced a terrifying collapse of the platform above the burial site.

The platform gave way, sending the pallbearers—and the casket—plunging into the grave.

Multiple people at the scene were severely injured. Bruises and broken bones have been reported.

Maribelle Rodriguez, the stepdaughter of Aviles, characterized the event as a “horrible incident that happened at a bad moment.”

Several pallbearers, including Aviles’ son, sustained injuries to their legs, hands, and backs, with the son suffering the most severe injuries as the casket fell on him, rendering him unconscious.

Fortunately, the injuries are not life-threatening, but the emotional impact on the family has been significant.

Rodriguez has attributed the incident to Greenmount Cemetery and the Rodriguez Funeral Home, highlighting inadequate conditions at the burial site.

She described the platform as “wobbly” and noted that the wood was “wet and soaked,” raising serious safety concerns.

On the day of the incident, visible broken boards and damaged wood at the burial plot supported her claims regarding the cemetery’s negligence.

The family is demanding accountability, including compensation for the disrupted ceremony and the emotional distress caused. The cemetery and funeral home have yet to issue a public apology.
