The Nigerian Politics.
The news as it trends.
In a fiery interview that’s igniting political debate across Nigeria, Solomon Dalung, former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be defeated in the 2027 general election—even if he appoints his own son as chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking on News Central TV, Dalung accused the Tinubu administration of “weaponizing poverty, hunger, and hardship” while promoting corruption and impunity.
He claimed the government has declared war on ordinary Nigerians and that the 2027 election will be a battle between the people and the ruling elite.
“Even if the 36 state governors defect to APC, and Tinubu appoints his son as INEC chairman and his wife as Chief Justice, he will still lose,” Dalung said.
Dalung, 60, is a lawyer and politician from Plateau State.
He served as Minister from 2015 to 2019 under President Muhammadu Buhari.
A member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), he is widely known in Nigerian media for his outspoken views and populist rhetoric.
Now part of a growing opposition coalition that includes Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and Rotimi Amaechi, Dalung urged Nigerians to unite and prepare for what he called a defining political showdown in 2027.
His comments have sparked both support and backlash on social media, with many emphasizing that the path to victory must be through the ballot box.
