Rumors are swirling around the release of Beatrice Ekweremadu, wife of former Nigerian Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, from a UK prison.
According to reports, former President Olusegun Obasanjo played a pivotal role in securing her early release. Beatrice was serving a sentence for her involvement in an organ trafficking case.
Self-proclaimed investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo claimed that Obasanjo used his international influence and diplomatic ties to orchestrate Beatrice’s freedom.
Olunloyo also concluded that Beatrice’s daughter, Sonia, was having a “meltdown” and possibly suffering from mental depression. Whis was one of the reasons for Beatrice’s early release, as it allowed her to take care of her daughter.
Sonia reportedly felt guilty, believing that her health struggles had caused her parents’ convictions. Beatrice was released two years early.
