Many were shocked this week as they passed by the White House and saw the faces of undocumented immigrants used as decoration on the White House lawn.
The display featured mugshots of individuals accused of crimes, including murder and drug distribution.
Critics argue that none of these individuals were interviewed to verify the claims against them.
This controversial display, organized by Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and border czar Tom Homan, aimed to highlight the administration’s immigration enforcement efforts.
However, the decision to showcase such imagery at the “people’s house” has left many social media users in disbelief, noting that even an accused individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court—not by the president’s declaration.
While past administrations have arrested and deported many criminals, critics contend that this move, complete with cameras ready to capture the spectacle, is unprecedented.
The signs, labeled “ARRESTED,” were strategically placed for media coverage, sparking heated debates about immigration policies and their impact on American values.
Some observers questioned the purpose of the display, unsure of what the administration hoped to achieve with such a provocative presentation, especially given that past administrations have enforced immigration laws without resorting to such public displays.
