As it trends.
As the Trump administration continues to defy court orders and face allegations of lack of due process for detainees, Marie Ange Blaise, a 44-year-old Haitian woman, has died in ICE custody at the Broward Transitional Center in Florida after complaining of chest pain for hours.
Despite receiving medication, she never woke up, according to UPI reports.
Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick has now called for a full investigation, criticizing the Trump administration’s immigration policies for neglecting detainees.
While ICE maintains that all detainees receive medical care, Blaise’s death raises serious concerns about detention conditions and migrant treatment in the United States.
The outcome of this investigation remains to be seen.
