Bill Gates recently opened up about his divorce from Melinda Gates in an interview with The Times of London.

He described the experience as “miserable” and revealed that it is the mistake he regrets the most.

The couple, who were married for 27 years, announced their separation in May 2021.

Gates shared that one of his biggest goals in life was to replicate his parents’ 45-year marriage, but unfortunately, his own marriage did not last as long.

Despite the challenges, Gates mentioned that he and Melinda have remained on good terms and continue to see each other at family events, as they share three children and two grandchildren.

He also expressed admiration for Melinda and the work they continue to do together at their foundation.

The divorce was influenced by several factors. In a 2022 interview, Bill Gates acknowledged causing pain to Melinda due to an alleged affair with a Microsoft employee.

Melinda also cited Bill’s alleged connection with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein as a key reason for their split, calling it “abhorrent”.

Additionally, Melinda mentioned that the COVID-19 pandemic gave them the privacy to make the decision to divorce.
