Around the World.

The news as it trends. See the video below.

Amid mounting regional tensions, Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa has responded defiantly to a fresh wave of Israeli airstrikes targeting military sites near Damascus.

The strikes come days after violent clashes erupted in southern Syria between Druze militias, Bedouin tribes, and government forces, prompting Israel to demand demilitarization near its border and protection for Druze civilians.

Newly surfaced footage shows the scope of Israeli bombings, including a precision strike on Syria’s Ministry of Defense.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu outlined Israel’s “red lines,” accusing Syria of violating territorial boundaries and failing to protect ethnic minorities.

In a televised speech, Sharaa fired back:

“We are not among those who fear war… we spent our lives defending our people.”

He accused Israel of exploiting sectarian divisions to destabilize Syria and vowed to uphold sovereignty.

While calls for diplomacy echo across the region, many fear a dangerous escalation.

With nationalism surging and old rivalries exposed, questions loom over whether this is about protecting lives—or reshaping borders.
