Abuja residents have been notified of a planned 15-day power outage from January 6 to 20, 2025, due to the Federal Capital Development Agency’s (FCDA) road dualization project along the Apo axis.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced that eight 132kV and 33kV towers will be relocated along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV line. This relocation will necessitate daily power outages from 9 am to 4 pm during the project.
Affected areas include Kubwa, Karu, Maraba, Nyanya, Masaka, Keffi, Kukwaba, Apo Mechanic, Lugbe, Trademore Estate, Pyakasa, Sabon Lugbe, Chika, and Alaita axis.
Residents in these areas will experience electricity rationing.
The relocation of the transmission towers is crucial for completing the Outer Southern Expressway road project, which aims to improve traffic flow and infrastructure in the capital city.
TCN has expressed regret over the temporary inconvenience and assured that power supply will be restored once the relocation and cable stringing are completed.
This planned outage is a necessary step for infrastructure development, and TCN apologizes for the disruptions it will cause.
