The news as it trends.

President Trump, according to reports, has ordered the deployment of 700 U.S. Marines to Los Angeles amid escalating protests over immigration raids.

The move follows the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops to the city, prompting California Governor Gavin Newsom to file a lawsuit against the federal government.

In a separate interview, Trump stated that California Governor Gavin Newsom could be arrested over his handling of the immigration protests in Los Angeles.

This was in response to a reporter’s question about whether he supported his border czar, Tom Homan’s, warning that state officials could face arrest for obstructing federal immigration enforcement.

Trump said, “I would do it, if I were Tom. I think it is great.”

Critics argue that Trump’s decision violates state sovereignty, undermines the federalist system, and oversteps constitutional authority, as the deployment was made without the governor’s request.

California officials claim that the action tramples the Tenth Amendment, which protects states from federal overreach.

Legal experts warn that this sets a dangerous precedent, allowing the federal government to override state control at will, contradicting the U.S. Constitution.

Newsom has called the deployment a manufactured crisis, accusing Trump of using military force for political gain.

In a separate post, a social media user shared an old tweet from Kristi Noem, the current U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, where she once criticized the idea of a president deploying the National Guard to a state without consent, calling it a violation of the law.

See one of Kristi Noem’s past tweets below, calling what Trump is doing to California today an attack on states’ rights.
