An Oregon nurse, originally from New York, has reportedly been murdered during her vacation in Europe.

The nurse practitioner based in Portland, Oregon, was tragically killed by a man she met while dancing at the nightclub during her trip. Read more below.

Mackenzie Michalski, a nurse practitioner originally from New York, was reported missing in Hungary this week and has been confirmed dead by local authorities.

According to police reports, she was murdered by an individual she encountered during her vacation, who subsequently concealed her body in a suitcase.

The 31-year-old was last seen at a nightclub in Budapest during the early hours of Tuesday.

Her friends indicated that they last communicated with her around that time and became increasingly worried when she did not check out of her Airbnb and missed her return flight to the United States, as reported by WGRZ.

During the investigation, authorities identified several suspicious elements related to Michalski’s disappearance, as detailed in a translated statement from the Budapest Police Department.

On November 8, the Budapest Police Headquarters issued a statement revealing that 31-year-old Mackenzie “Kenzie” Michalski had vanished from a nightclub during her trip to the European nation.

Her friends notified the authorities when she failed to board her return flight, and her personal items were found abandoned in her Airbnb accommodation.

Investigators reviewed nearby security footage and identified a male suspect who was last seen in the company of Michalski.

According to a translated statement, she was observed with a man at several clubs on the night she went missing.

On November 7, police apprehended an Irish national in connection with the disappearance of the American tourist.

Authorities reported that the suspect confessed to meeting Michalski at a local nightclub, where they danced before leaving together for his apartment.

Police indicated that the two had become intimate, and during the course of their intimacy that night he subsequently killed her.

The suspect then allegedly cleaned his apartment and concealed Michalski’s body in a wardrobe while he went out to purchase a suitcase.

O his arrival, the suspect was reported to have placed Michalski’s body inside a suitcase, subsequently renting a vehicle and driving to Lake Balaton, which is located approximately an hour and a half from Budapest.

According to police, he concealed Michalski’s body in a wooded area before returning to Budapest, where he was apprehended and arrested near his residence.

The authorities have not revealed the complete name of the suspect; however, he has been identified as a 37-year-old Irish national, known by the initials L.T. M. according to the investigators. 

 Officials indicated that he admitted to killing the woman but asserted that it was unintentional.

Footage released by Budapest police shows the suspect guiding detectives to the location where he had concealed Michalski’s body.

A GoFundMe page created by the friends and family of Michalski characterizes the nurse practitioner as the “light of our world.” The page further states that she is “a human worth more than words could describe,”.
