An American social media influencer and his brother have been sentenced to three months in prison for assaulting police officers while intoxicated during a night out in Dubai, according to reports from AFP.
Joseph Lopez, a former air force member and Mister Louisiana contestant, along with his sibling Joshua, faced charges including “assaulting Dubai Police officers, resisting arrest, and causing damage to public property,” as stated by the official Dubai Media Office.
They were fined $1,428 (Dh5,244) and received a three-month prison sentence, which will be followed by deportation, due to the injuries inflicted on police officers and damage to a police vehicle during their attempt to flee, as outlined in the statement.
The UAE authorities have not provided additional details regarding the incident.
At just 24 years old, Joseph Lopez has amassed over 100,000 followers on Instagram and is recognized as Mister Louisiana.
However, his recent arrest in Dubai appears to have jeopardized his chances of competing in the upcoming Mister USA 2024 pageant, which is set to take place in November.
