The Nigerian World.

The news as it trends.

Today, the streets of Awka, Anambra State glowed gently under candlelight as mourners gathered in solemn remembrance of Ifesinachi Onyekere, affectionately known as Fish Magnet.

At just 29 years old, he was an emblem of hope — a visionary entrepreneur who used aquaculture to inspire, teach, and transform lives.

Dressed in black, the grieving crowd assembled at Aroma Junction and walked silently to Ring Road, home to his thriving fish enterprise.

The procession wasn’t only an act of mourning — it was a cry of resistance against the injustice that claimed his life.

Kidnapped from his hometown of Nnewi, he was tragically found dead days later despite ransom efforts, leaving a community shaken.

Before his death, Ifesinachi shared a dream to train 3,000 youths in aquaculture and make fish affordable to everyday Nigerians.

Many say his bold move to reshape market pricing for the community might have threatened powerful interests.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Esther Chinyere, a respected Women Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State, who tirelessly fought to bring him home.

She now mourns her only son with a heart heavy from loss and pride.

As candles flickered through the night, many remembered him for his acts of kindness, visionary leadership, and unwavering love for people.
