The news as it trends.

Some advocates have called it a nightmare, as thousands of Venezuelan families are left in disbelief over the court decision today.

On May 19, 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Trump administration, permitting the termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for over 300,000 Venezuelan migrants.

This ruling overturns a Biden-era policy that granted legal protections due to the ongoing political turmoil in Venezuela.

Critics and advocates express concern that this decision may result in immediate detentions or even potential ICE-led kidnappings of Venezuelans with TPS status in Florida, where a significant number reside.

These concerns stem from Trump’s history with ICE and its pattern of random detentions of non-immigrants without due process, as evidenced in numerous prior incidents.

This ruling will affect families who have lived in the U.S. for years.

Advocacy groups are outraged, and some on social media are organizing efforts to challenge the ruling, citing humanitarian concerns and the economic impact of removing thousands of Venezuelans who fled political crises in their home country.

It is worth noting that once the Supreme Court issues a final order, it is generally the highest and last decision on the matter.

However, there are a few exceptions where further legal action can be taken, according to experts interviewed for this report.

A request for rehearing may be filed in rare cases if parties believe the Court overlooked key facts or legal arguments.

The Supreme Court rarely grants rehearings, but it remains an option.

Another possible legal avenue is legislative action, where Congress or state legislatures could pass new laws that alter the legal framework.

However, given the fact that Republicans—most of whom support Trump’s agenda—control Congress, the likelihood of this happening remains uncertain.
