A viral video has left viewers stunned as Guinea’s President, Mamady Doumbouya, was seen walking out with an entourage of over 80-armed military personnel.
The dramatic display has sparked widespread speculation about what threats he might be facing—or whether it was simply a show of power.
At 44 years old, Doumbouya has been in office since October 1, 2021, following a coup that ousted former president Alpha Condé.
He is married to Lauriane Darboux, a French national and active-duty gendarme, and they have four children.
Despite being an interim leader, Doumbouya remains a central figure in Guinea’s political landscape.
A new draft constitution proposes a five-year presidential term, renewable once, meaning a maximum of 10 years in office.
However, it remains unclear whether Doumbouya will run in future elections, as the transitional charter initially barred him from doing so.
The viral video has reignited questions about leadership, transparency, and the fragile nature of governance in West Africa.
Whether driven by fear or strategy, the president’s heavily guarded walkout continues to fuel public curiosity.
