Canadian tennis sensation Victoria Mboko has stunned the world with a breathtaking victory at the National Bank Open in Montreal.
At just 18 years old, Mboko entered the tournament as a wildcard ranked 337th in the world.
Against all odds, she defeated four Grand Slam champions—including Naomi Osaka in a thrilling final—to claim her first WTA Tour title.
The WTA Tour is the elite professional circuit for women’s tennis, and Mboko’s win at a WTA 1000 event marks a major milestone in her career.
Her fearless play and emotional resilience captivated fans and commentators alike. After dropping the first set, she stormed back to win 2–6, 6–4, 6–1.
Mboko joins Faye Urban and Bianca Andreescu as the only Canadian women to win the national event in the Open Era.
Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, and raised in Burlington, Ontario, Mboko began playing tennis at age three.
Her Congolese heritage and strong family support have shaped her journey.
Social media is buzzing, with many calling her the future of women’s tennis.
Indeed, a star is born.
