UNIPORT Student Sets Lover Ablaze Over Pregnancy Dispute.

A 25-year-old student of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Cynthia Chukwundah, has been arrested for allegedly setting her boyfriend, Sunny Amadi, on fire during a heated argument over a pregnancy dispute.

The incident occurred on Sunday, July 7, 2025, at a private residence in Choba, Rivers State.

According to police reports, the couple had a serious altercation, reportedly over Cynthia’s pregnancy.

During the fight, she allegedly poured fuel and set the room ablaze, resulting in severe burns to both herself and Amadi.

He later died at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) from his injuries.

Cynthia, who is heavily pregnant, is currently hospitalized under police watch and unable to give a full statement due to her condition.

The Rivers State Police Command has launched a full investigation and assured the public that justice will be served.
