As many Nigerian sports fans have echoed on social media, it seems Tinubu’s tenure and the sports scene share a magic wand that’s now playing out in real life—spanning from football to table tennis.
In a stunning semifinal comeback at the 2025 ITTF African Youth Championships, Nigeria’s U-19 boys’ team defeated Egypt 3–2 to secure a spot in the final.
The heroes of the match included Matthew Kuti, Abdulbasit Abdulfatai, and Mohamed Khaloufi, with Abdulfatai sealing the win in a dominant final game.
On the girls’ side, Egypt’s team—led by Mariam Younes, Habiba Elbasoumy, and Nour Zaki—overpowered Nigeria 3–0.
But despite the loss, Aishat Rabiu, Favour Ojo, and Kabirat Ayoola displayed exceptional grit and promise.
The energy in Lagos was electric, and Nigeria’s triumph marked a powerful return to continental glory.
In the final held on July 30, 2025, at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Nigeria’s U-19 boys defeated Tunisia 3–2, with Abdulfatai once again clinching the winning match.
And now, the gold is home—Naija no dey carry last, as they say.
