In the USA
The news as it trends.
President Donald Trump recently suggested he might relocate 2026 World Cup matches from U.S. cities he deems “dangerous,” specifically calling out Seattle and San Francisco.
He criticized these locations as being run by “radical left lunatics” and questioned their safety for hosting international events.
However, FIFA Vice President Victor Montagliani swiftly dismissed the threat, stating that match locations are determined solely by FIFA—not political leaders.
With less than a year until kickoff, FIFA remains committed to its selected venues across North America.
Montagliani emphasized that football transcends politics and will proceed as planned.
