The Nigerian world
The news as it trends
President Bola Tinubu has firmly dismissed claims that Nigeria is teetering on the edge of collapse.
In response to a recent editorial suggesting widespread hunger and economic breakdown, presidential aide Sunday Dare called the report exaggerated and misleading.
Dare clarified that the figure of 33 million Nigerians at risk of hunger is a projection—not a confirmed crisis—and was taken from the Cadre Harmonise report used for policy planning.
He emphasized that the government is actively addressing challenges through grain releases, agricultural support, and cash transfers.
The presidency urged critics to avoid alarmist narratives and recognize ongoing reforms.
Tinubu’s administration remains confident that Nigeria is on a path to recovery, not ruin, according to his aide.
