China’s Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, the tallest in the world, has completed a five-day load test ahead of its September opening.
Located in Guizhou Province, the bridge rises 625 meters above the canyon floor and spans 2,900 meters.
Engineers used 96 trucks (3,360 metric tons) and over 400 sensors to assess its structural integrity.
Once open, it’s expected to handle 20,000 vehicles daily, cutting travel time between Liuzhi and Anlong from two hours to just five minutes.
The bridge sets new records for height and span in mountainous terrain and plays a key role in China’s infrastructure push to connect remote regions.
It’s been praised as a one-of-a-kind transportation artery driving regional development.
