The news as it trends.
Vice President JD Vance is facing backlash after vacationing in California with his family — just months after publicly labeling the state a “lawless wasteland.”
His visit to Disneyland on July 12 sparked protests, online ridicule, and political firestorms.
Critics say the trip contradicts his harsh rhetoric about California’s immigration policies and crime rates.
Governor Gavin Newsom led the charge, tweeting, “Hope you enjoy your family time, @JDVance.
The families you’re tearing apart certainly won’t.” Protesters gathered outside the Grand Californian Hotel, chanting and waving flags.
Inside the park, Vance was met with boos, “bruh”s, and heckling — especially after boarding the controversial Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride.
Social media erupted with memes mocking his stiff running gait — dubbed the “Vance Prance” — as he chased his child, who had nearly walked off without him.
The visit has reignited debates over hypocrisy and political optics.

People who don’t have kids don’t know what this gait means. https://t.co/Tow0Agxaws
