Former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Peter Thomas is now behind bars after pleading guilty to federal tax fraud.
On December 19, 2024, Thomas was sentenced to 18 months in prison for failing to pay over $2.5 million in employment taxes between 2017 and 2023.
The unpaid taxes stemmed from his Bar One restaurants located in Charlotte, Miami, and Baltimore.
Instead of meeting his IRS obligations, prosecutors say Thomas splurged on luxury travel, designer goods, and lavish personal expenses.
As of Friday, August 1, 2025, Thomas is serving his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Miami.
He will also be required to pay full restitution and complete two years of supervised release after prison.
Thomas has publicly addressed his conviction, urging young entrepreneurs to operate with integrity and accountability.
His dramatic fall from reality TV fame to federal custody offers a stark cautionary tale about business missteps and the consequences of cutting corners — a descent echoed loudly across social media.
