General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, has publicly rejected mounting calls to name a successor, declaring he won’t be pressured—by anyone.

Speaking during a Bible study session on August 11, the 83-year-old leader said, “I won’t even take that from my wife… I stand where I stand and nobody will put me under pressure.”

Kumuyi’s remarks come amid growing concern from church members and leaders over the lack of a clear succession plan.

Online reactions have been swift, with some praising his resolve and others warning of future leadership crises.

Despite his age and over five decades in ministry, Kumuyi insists that only God will appoint his successor.

Critics argue that the absence of a formal transition strategy could destabilize the church, drawing comparisons to posthumous leadership struggles in other Nigerian ministries.

For now, Kumuyi remains firmly in charge, signaling no intention to step aside.

His comments have reignited debate over leadership continuity in Nigeria’s Pentecostal churches—where founder-led structures often lack institutional safeguards.

In the absence of a designated successor, concerns are growing that internal power struggles could shape the church’s future direction once the founding figure exits the stage.
