A Nigerian student in the UK, identified as Onyinye, has been ordered to leave the country after unknowingly breaching her visa conditions by working more than the permitted 20 hours per week.
In a tearful video, she explained that her father her sponsor died in 2023, leaving her financially stranded.
To survive and pay tuition, she took on extra shifts, unaware it violated her student visa.
The UK Home Office later revoked her visa and issued a deportation notice. Onyinye, who arrived in 2022 to pursue a BSc degree, said, “This wasn’t part of my plan.”
Her story has sparked debate online about compassion, immigration policy, and the harsh realities faced by international students.
