The news as it trends.

Sean Kingston, the Jamaican-American singer behind the hit “Beautiful Girls,” was sentenced on August 15, 2025, to 3.5 years in federal prison for his role in a $1 million fraud scheme.

His mother, Janice Turner, was sentenced three weeks earlier, on August 5, to five years. Both were convicted in March 2025 after a five-day trial.

The fraud involved multiple counts of wire fraud and conspiracy.

Prosecutors revealed that Kingston and Turner used deceptive tactics to obtain expensive goods and services without paying.

One major incident included a $150,000 entertainment system with a 232-inch TV, which Kingston acquired by falsely claiming he’d promote the company with help from Justin Bieber.

He allegedly used his celebrity status to convince vendors to release items with minimal upfront payment—then never paid the balance.

Turner has a history of fraud and theft charges, which were part of the case that led to her conviction.

Kingston, meanwhile, has faced multiple lawsuits over unpaid jewelry and was previously accused of threatening a music video producer with a gun.

Fans are stunned by the extent of the deception and the fall from grace to grass of a once-celebrated artist.
