The news as it trend
John Olubobokun, a former director of Christian Centre Academy (now Legacy Christian Academy) in Saskatoon, Canada, has been convicted of nine counts of assault with a weapon.
The Nigerian-born educator used a wooden paddle to discipline students between 2003 and 2007, a practice common in some parts of Nigeria but banned under Canadian law.
Victims testified they were forced to bend over desks and repeatedly struck, leaving bruises and emotional scars.
One paddle even broke mid-punishment.
Prosecutors argued that Olubobokun’s actions violated Canada’s Section 43 law, which only allows non-injurious correction.
Survivors called the verdict “healing,” as Olubobokun now awaits sentencing for crimes described as both cruel and illegal
