The news as it trends

A man named Christopher O’Neil Miller has been charged with felony HIV exposure after allegedly engaging in sexual relations with a woman—now seven months pregnant with his child—without disclosing his HIV-positive status.

The shocking incident unfolded in Mauldin, South Carolina, where police responded to a domestic disturbance on July 12.

Miller reportedly provided a false name due to outstanding warrants but later confessed to knowingly hiding his HIV status from the woman, stating he “didn’t want her to know.”

Although officials have not yet confirmed whether the woman tested positive for HIV, Miller’s conduct meets the legal criteria for unlawful exposure under South Carolina law.

Importantly, transmission isn’t required for the charge—deliberate non-disclosure alone can lead to prosecution.

In addition to the HIV-related charge, Miller also faces financial identity fraud and is being held at Greenville County Detention Center on a $60,000 bond.

The case has triggered widespread outrage, raising urgent questions about medical disclosure, consent, and partner safety—especially during pregnancy.
