In the USA.
The news as it trends.
As Trump’s trade and tariff policies intensify, revealing staggering figures, American businesses are sounding the alarm.
Many caution that small-scale enterprises may falter under the strain, leading to a decline in consumer confidence and jeopardizing overall market stability.
Against this backdrop, legal heavyweights Neal Katyal, former U.S. Solicitor General, and constitutional law expert Michael McConnell have teamed up with the Liberty Justice Center.
Together, they’re challenging the Trump administration’s sweeping use of emergency powers to impose global tariffs.
The lawsuit argues that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) does not allow the president to levy tariffs without a legitimate emergency.
The Court of International Trade previously ruled the tariffs unlawful, and the case now moves to the U.S. Court of Appeals.
Katyal and McConnell advocate for small businesses affected by the “Liberation Day” tariffs, calling them unconstitutional and economically harmful.
Their goal: to restore congressional authority over trade and prevent executive overreach.
📅 The hearing in V.O.S. Selections, Inc. v. Trump begins July 31, 2025 at 10:00 AM EDT before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
It will be livestreamed for public viewing.
