The news as it trends.
In a full-circle career move, former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has joined Goldman Sachs as a senior adviser, nearly 20 years after starting his career at the firm.
The announcement came on July 8, 2025, just a year after Sunak stepped down following the Conservative Party’s historic election loss.
Sunak will advise Goldman’s global clients on macroeconomic and geopolitical issues, drawing on his experience as both Chancellor of the Exchequer and Prime Minister.
His salary will reportedly be donated to his charity, The Richmond Project, which supports education in the UK.
Sunak studied PPE at Oxford and earned an MBA from Stanford as a Fulbright Scholar.
He and his wife, Akshata Murty, daughter of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy, have a combined net worth of over £650 million.
They split their time between London and California.
While Goldman Sachs is headquartered in New York, Sunak’s advisory role is expected to be London-based.
